Merit and need-based financial aid available at most universities. However, more financial aid is available at the post-graduate level and is more or less assured at the doctroal level. Not enough scholarships and assistantships at the undergraduate level. Also, qualifying rules for these are very stringent.
Tuition fee is among the highest in the world.
Students can get on the and off campus jobs to sustain themselves.
Most colleges require students applying to post-graduate programmes to have four years of higher education. So, while engineering and law graduates from India qualify with their four and five-year degrees, other have to bridge the gap by completing one more year of study.
Undergraduate students are required to sit for SAT and TOEFL Post-graduate applicants must take the GRE or GMAT as well as the TOEFL.
TOEFL may be waived by some universities if the students can show 12 years of scholing in English.
Applying to universities is a costly process since universities charge for appplication forms. One would require approximately Rs. 50,000 to apply to an average of seven universities. This includes application fees, communication expenses and test fees.
Students can only work on campus unlike some of the other contries thus limiting their options of work.

Undergraduate admissions follow a centralised procedure.
Students need to apply through the Universities colleges. Admissions Services (UCAS). The general entry requirement for this is 12th standard and an IELTS score.
Post-graduate students can apply directly to the Universities.
UK
The applications are free of cost and so students can apply to as many universities as they want.
Beside the pre-requisite of an IELTS socre, some courses may also require GRE/GMAT scores.
You can apply for a visa only after receiving an unconditional offer from a university.
Most universities and colleges do not ofter financial aid. However, there are other government and private organisations that do offer financial aid on the basis of merit.
Student visa holders are allowed to work for no more than 20 hours a week, which may go up to 40 hours during holiday period.
Part-time jobs are easily available on and off campus.
Most post-graduate programmes are of one-year duration.
The three-year bachelo's degree from India is recognised for all master's courses.
Science and engineering students can stay back for a year without a work permit. Graduates from the world's top 50 B-Schools can apply for a one-year work permit even if they have't studied here.

Germany
There are over 500 international degree programmes entrirely of partly taught in English.
Most German universities do not charge tuition fee.
German universities do not consider Indian School exam equivalent to the German School leaving exam.
If you are going as undergraduate, you have to take the Feststellungspruefung.
International students are allowed to work for up to four hours every day but not more than 180 half days per year. Students can stay on for a year in the country to look for a job.
With the announcement of A$25-million aid to India for collaboration for scholarships there is easier financial aid.

Temporary work visas easily available for post-graduation students under the new immigration laws.
Students can change course units or subjects with the help of a faculty transition programme. Students faculty ratio ranges from 1:10 to 1:15. No language problem.
Newzealand
Changes in immigration policy have made it easier for students to work part time.
For Ph.D. studies, foreign students can avail of the same subsidies that are provided to the natives.
Since the system of education is based on the UK System, transition from or to a UK Education programme is easy.
Tertiary institutes form flexible pathways biween different levels in the form of bridge courses.
You can combing your studies with other activities like sking, canoeing, surfing, tramping, fishing and mountain biking.
